Sound of Music fan or not – this is a tour you shouldn’t miss! See the sights of Salzburg and the Austrian Lake Region on a full-day tour from Vienna.
Traveling in a small group of no more than 8 people, our intimate tour will take you through the breathtaking scenery of the Vienna Woods, with the peaks of the Alps in the distance, and on to the stunning Austrian lake district.
Stop where the big tour buses only drive by: dip your toes in crystal-clear Lake Attersee and take a stroll around the lakeside village of St. Gilgen at lake Wolfgangsee, a famous location in the movie “The Sound of Music.”
Discover Salzburg’s lovely Old Town with your guide on a comprehensive walking tour. Hear intriguing stories about Salzburg’s famous inhabitants as you pass Mozart’s birthplace, the colorful gardens of Mirabell Palace, the cemetery of the Abbey of St. Peter, Salzburg Cathedral, and the Archbishop’s Palace.
After the walking tour treat yourself to a delicious lunch, or enjoy a quick bite at a sausage stand if your prefer. Spend the remaining afternoon in Salzburg, before your drive back to Vienna.

Great Driver and Knowledgeable Wolfgang, Great Tour Guide Naomi and extremely knowledgeable and personable. Small groups are the way to go, it can be personalized and you feel more comfortable asking questions. I also didn’t feel rushed and felt that Naomi really took her time to go in depth with the history of Salzburg. Highly recommend.
Yosef was an amazing driver and guide!! So friendly and full of information!! He gave us enough stops to eat and use the toilet on the way to Salzburg and back to Vienna. He stopped at beautiful spots to take pictures by the lake and was very helpful on our guided tour in Salzburg!! We got plenty of free time to get lunch and shop and visit other points of interest!! I would definitely recommend this day trip to Salzburg from Vienna with this tour company!!
Outstanding, incredibly knowledgeable guide Robert! He was engaging but mostly his grasp of history was amazing. I learned so much.
Josef was an amazing guide. He was very welcoming and provided great information along the way. The van was very comfortable and we had plenty of time to wander around Salzburg. It was a great day.
This was a wonderful tour and our guide Paulo was excellent. On both our drives out of and back into Vienna, Paulo shared very interesting history about the city, including urban planning. Our tour guide in Salzburg was also awesome and gave a helpful overview of the city and its history. Given that this tour is a day trip, it’s a bit hard to fit everything in, but I think the tour has a good balance of shorter stops in the mountains to see the towns/lakes and then time in Salzburg.
